Ausangate Trek 6 Days with Machupicchu Tour
Tambopata Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick & Sandoval Lake
c3 Days from $ USD 100.00
Overview
This is an incredible journey around the snow-capped Ausangate mountains (6,372m) that can be undertaken on foot or horseback. Along the way, you will traverse heights of over 5,200m, where you may spot some vicunas, as well as numerous alpaca herds, which are the primary source of income for the Andean people in this region. You will also have the opportunity to soak in hot springs and marvel at the red and green lakes, which are home to a variety of waterfowl, such as Ducks, Pintails, Andean Coots, Puna Ibis, Andean Goose, and much more.
For mountain trek enthusiasts, this hike will be an unforgettable and challenging experience. While the nights can be quite chilly, the days can be quite hot. The Andean people refer to the mountain as APU AUSANGATE, which they consider a sacred peak. Even today, people offer prayers for good agriculture, healthy animals, and personal well-being. Every June, a group of Catholic religious pilgrims embarks on an expedition to the Senor of Qóylloriti, a temple located at 5200 meters above sea level, to celebrate the Catholic cross, the sun, and the Apu Ausangate of the Inkas.
